Interim Pastor

David Strope

David E. Strope, D.D., serves as interim Sr. Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

 

Prior to his service at Calvary Baptist, David served as interim National Representative of the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches (GARBC). In this role, David represented the GARBC in churches and various ministry settings, counseled and encouraged pastors and churches, provided assistance with pastoral placement, and mentored and trained pastors in the United States and abroad, all while championing the association’s doctrinal distinctives and ministries.

 

David was also a pastor for 45 years in four New York Churches (Bethel Baptist Church, Jamestown; Calvary Baptist Church, Lockport; Regular Baptist Church, Elmira; and Calvary Baptist Church, Norwich) and at Ankeny Baptist Church of Ankeny, Iowa.

 

In addition to his pastoral roles, David has served on the GARBC Council of 18, the Northeast Fellowship Council of 10, and the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches Council of 10. He currently serves on the elected council of Baptist Mid-Missions, and has taught at Faith Baptist Bible College as an adjunct faculty member. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from FBBC/TS in 2022.

 

David and his wife, Debbie, both hail from First Baptist Church, Newark Valley, NY and have been married and in pastoral ministry 48 years. They have three children and eleven grandchildren. 

 

David runs, walks, bikes and swims to stave off old age, loves the NY Yankees and Boston Celtics. Debbie retired from work at Mercy Hospital Infusion Clinic (Des Moines IA) in 2023, loves cross stitch and HGTV, and delights in being called Grammy.
